Built-In Shelf

After continuously knocking the old key rack / mail holder off the wall in the laundry room, I decided to build a in the wall unit. I figured if it was recessed, I would be less likely to run into it with my shoulder and knock stuff onto the floor. I bought a couple pieces of maple from Michigan Lumber (so that the shelf would match the flooring). Below are a few pictures of the finished (and nearly finished) product.
